June’s Independent Spotlight Of The Month: Going by the name dA kidD, Yung Chys released “Futuristic South Stars Vol. 5 in 2009 with Fleet DJ’s DJ Profluent. It got over 47,000 plays and 8,000 downloads. From then until now he has switched labels, changed his name to Yung Chys and is currently working on “Verse Kings” mix tape with his label mate Chosen One which is expected to be released mid August-early September 2012 and is hosted by: DJ Young Cee of Shadyville DJ’s.
Chosen started as a high school battle rapper where he made a name for himself as “King David”. While in community college he wrote songs for rap and R & B artists. At the age of 19 years he was offered a recording contract but turned down cause of label difficulties and never recorded.
Since then he met Yung Chys who introduced him to recording in real studios, started writing and recording songs with Yung Chys. Chosen One became known for his punch lines and lyrical delivery and was dubbed by the streets the “Chosen One” but now he goes by the name “Chosen”.
